Lo helps to launch Blue Blindfold anti-trafficking campaign
23/02/10
Anna Lo MLA has today helped to launch the Blue Blindfold Campaign, which seeks to raise greater public awareness of human trafficking in Northern Ireland.
Chairing the special launch event in Belfast, Alliance MLA Anna Lo said: “I am very pleased that the NIO is hosting this event. By its nature, Human Trafficking is a secretive and hidden crime and there is a need to raise awareness amongst the public that this type of modern day slavery is happening here on our doorsteps.
I hope that this campaign and the continued good work of the PSNI, UKHTC, Women’s Aid and all other relevant organisations, will have a significant impact in reducing the threat and presence of human trafficking and associated organised crime in Northern Ireland.”
