South Belfast Alliance MLA Anna Lo has welcomed news that a letter has been sent to University Of Ulster students in a bid to prevent anti-social behaviour in the Holylands area on St Patrick's Day. Last week Anna Lo organised a debate in the Assembly on the issue.
Anna Lo MLA said: "I am glad that the university has taken this pro-active approach to preventing trouble in the area on St Patrick's Day.
Students must be made aware of the serious consequences of their actions and this letter ensures they cannot plead ignorance.
Much good work has been done over the past few months to ensure that we do not have a repeat of last year's scenes. The responsibility however rests with students themselves and they must realise that they put their future career at risk if they engage in anti-social behaviour. They could also face a criminal conviction and a serious fine.
St Patrick’s Day is a great event for everyone and we want all the people of our city to be able to enjoy it with out a few people spoiling it."
