Lo backs new landlord regulations

South Belfast Alliance MLA Anna Lo has welcomed the announcement of moves to regulate landlords more tightly saying the private rental system needs to be brought into the 21st century.
Anna Lo MLA said: "I am very pleased to see these proposals go out to consultation and I hope they will be implemented. It's high time we tightened up the rental sector here and brought regulations into the 21st century.
These plans, if implemented, will help protect tenants against any unscrupulous landlord. New regulations would also hopefully ensure that all properties are maintained to a high standard.
It is essential that tenants know their rights and landlords know their obligations and hopefully these moves will help ensure this is the case."
